I never thought I’d search for a happiness life coach. Living in Toronto, juggling work near the Financial District and trying to stay present for my family in Mississauga, life felt like a blur. I wasn’t depressed – just stuck. Then, a friend from Oakville suggested I speak to Joanna Krzastek, a professional life coach in Ontario who specialized in happiness and mindset.

Honestly, I was sceptical. Is it worth it? What do they even do? But after my first session, everything changed. She didn’t just tell me to “think positive.” We talked about real things – burnout, relationships, and goals I’d buried under responsibility. Ultimately, with her help, I learned that protecting my energy wasn’t rude; it was necessary. I began to create little blocks of time for myself, for example, reading at a cafe on Dundas Street or taking strolls at Lakeshore in the evenings. 

Another breakthrough was when we would work on shifting my thinking. Rather than striving for perfection, she would support me in thinking about progress. Small wins like finishing a book, cooking at home instead of ordering takeout, and an uninterrupted evening at home with my kids felt like a minor celebration. Surprisingly, it made tough days easier to handle.

She guided me back to the hobbies I’d forgotten, like painting, visiting local markets in Kensington, and taking weekend drives to the Hamilton waterfalls. It made me realize that happiness isn’t a finish line – it’s something you nurture every day.
