What are core values: by Joanna Krzastek

Core values are fundamental beliefs that guide a person or organization’s behaviors and decision-making. They are principles that define what is important and shape how individuals and entities interact with the world.

I want you to ask yourself these questions. If you can’t answer them, then I would suggest starting to question why we live in a society where we’re pressured to live our lives like everyone else, where we don’t get to be our authentic selves. We don’t have to live our lives according to what everyone expects from us. To be authentic, you can’t follow the crowd.

No matter how hard you try to live your life according to everyone’s projection of you, you will be sadly disappointed. People change, and you don’t have to change because others want you to change; otherwise, you have to ask yourself, does that person like me for me or because they can manipulate me? But the other question is, would that person still be my friend or like me if I could just be me?

There are almost 8 billion people in the world, and I cannot make every single human being like mangos or watermelons; it is impossible. This is why I don’t agree with society and its views. Not one size fits all. Sorry, but it doesn’t work that way, and if we live in freedom and a so-called democracy, then we should never be forced to live under conditions we don’t agree with.

True freedom comes from individualism, being able to think for yourselves, and taking accountability for your life and choices. Some might think this is anarchy, but it isn’t as long as no one gets violent and doesn’t hurt anyone. When you start taking responsibility for your life and choices, you gain wisdom, wealth, and health. You get a new perspective on life, and you get to know who you are finally deep down; you will be able to heal yourself, understand how you function mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

Now, what are your core values? What do you stand for? Here are some examples of core values:

Integrity:

This means always doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. It’s about being honest and transparent in all dealings.

Innovation:

This could mean always looking for better ways to do things, embracing change, and valuing creative thinking.

Respect:

This could mean treating everyone with kindness and consideration, regardless of their role or background.

Collaboration:

This could mean working together, sharing ideas, and supporting each other to achieve common goals.

Excellence:

This could mean striving for the highest quality in everything you do and never settling for ‘good enough.’

Accountability:

This could mean taking responsibility for your actions, owning your mistakes, and learning from them.

Sustainability:

This could mean making decisions that are good for the environment and the community, not just the bottom line.

Do any of these apply to you? Or are you just living your life, making ends meet, and letting your life pass you by?
