Growth Mindset: How Can Slowing Down Be a Life-Changing Decision?

Growth Mindset: How Can Slowing Down Be a Life-Changing Decision?

Always rushing between things and assuming busyness as success is the biggest mistake I made. And apparently, I called it success. I realized this when I met certified life purpose coach Joanna Krzastek. She asked me what my definition of success is. I told her that maybe it’s landing a high-paying job and having everything together in life. That’s when she made me realize how I had been living with the wrong mindset. She simply said to me one thing: slow down, breathe, and be in the moment.

She believes that if you define success as landing a high-paying job with constant grind, then it’s not success but an illusion you are living in. And that’s so true. Every day, we do a marathon to reach that line of success that was never defined in the first place. And in this race, we forget how to live life and forget the real purpose. After meeting my coach, I learned how slowing down can be a life-changing decision and can bring a positive transformation.

And how it’s all about the mindset. In this blog, we will understand the importance of slowing down and the big role of mindset.

Slowing Down to Live Moments Where Life Feels Lighter

Have you ever tried setting aside time for something that you really enjoy doing? When was the last time you had a cup of coffee in peace without any worldly stress? Do you still have that book you started once but never finished? Do you always try fitting yourself into schedules that you never meant to be in? Do you always try to be everything for everyone? Almost 5 months ago, this was exactly what I was doing. I was overstretching myself, performing all the parental duties, maybe for that ‘perfect parent tag,’ navigating never-ending schedules, preparing meals for the sake of eating, and still, at the end of the day, asking myself, was I enough? I stopped laughing, my face started reflecting stress, and somewhere or the other I started feeling disconnected from the people I love the most.

Then I learned that all this was happening because I was not slowing down. It’s important to slow down, and it’s not a choice but a mindset. Have a pause, take things slow, like one at a time, and don’t leave behind the incomplete task with the fear of losing the next. Don’t fill your free time for the sake of keeping yourself busy. All-time rushing can affect your mental and physical health badly.

  • Overstretching yourself into activities can eventually lead to burnout.

  • It’s important to take time out for real connections, self-reflection, and meaningful experiences in life.

  • Don’t confuse productivity with being busy, and let free time be your free time to perform things that truly matter to you. Sing loudly even if you don’t know how to sing, bake the cake you always wanted to, grab the books, slide into the stories, and appreciate the moment you are in.

  • Slowing down doesn’t mean stopping, but rather it’s about living moments where life feels better.

After I met Joanna, I learned how to change my mindset and slow down the pace. And results? Incredible. It changed my life altogether; everything felt easy and lighter, and I achieved a balance. I started taking time out for things that make me happy, and with time, my bond with people started improving. I got to meet my better version, and it felt like having a fulfilling life.
